Robotic Research in the United States
The United States is behind in robotic research although we are a big buyer of the technology. The rest of the world especially in Europe and Asia are ahead of us in the field of robotics by quite a bit and pouring money into their research at a rate almost ten times our national governmental funding.

Characteristics of Sound
Sound in brief but remarkeable terms is a vibration, that our ears percieve by the sense of hearing. Most commonly vibrations travel to our ears via the air. The ear then converts these sound waves into nerve impulses that are sent to our brains, where the impulses become sound.

Lungs - The Respiration Necessity
The lungs are massive vessel-like organs in the chest cavity. They are the largest and most essential part of the respiration system. The air we breathe enters and exits our lungs through two passages; the bronchioles and the bronchi. Lungs' main responsibilty is to take oxygen from the atmosphere and transport it into the bloodstreem. It then excretes carbon dioxide from blood into the atmoshpere. This gas exchange happens through specialized cells that form many millions of thin-walled air sacs. Some non-respiratory functions are also performed by the lungs.

What if a Living Planet Got Hungry?
Some believe that there may be planets out there, which are totally organic? That is to say they are totally alive. Teaming with Microbial life which has eaten all the elements and compounds of the planet all the way thru.

Bisphenol A and You!
According to a study by the University of Cincinnati, Bisphenol A - a chemical that mimics estrogen in the human body - affects developing brains at much lower concentrations than previously thought. The research team, led by Dr. Scott Belcher, PhD, showed that the maximum effect of Bisphenol A occurs at 0.23 parts per trillion.

Sirt1 Gene is Required for the Increase in Physical Activity Induced by Caloric Restrictions
Caloric restriction (CR) is the best known approach to extend organism’s lifespan. It works remarkably well in various living beings, from yeast to mice. It is likely also to work in primates and humans. If an animal lives under CR, essentially semi-starving, one may think that it will try to preserve its energy by reducing physical activity. Apparently, this is not the case. For example, mice in reality move more and demonstrate increased foraging activity while on a restricted diet. This does make sense as far as individual’s survival is concerned. In the wild, mice confronted with food shortage are more likely to find more food when they try to search for it than if they simply sit there hoping for a piece of cheese to appear out of thin air.

Hubble Space Telescope-Seeing Beyond the Milky Way
The Hubble Space Telescope has allowed scientists and the rest of the world a look into outer space that was not even imagined one hundred years ago. In fact, it is only in the last one hundred years that it was discovered that there are millions of galaxies beyond ours and that the universe is constantly expanding. Since its launch in 1990 this telescope has been an invaluable source of information to astronomers and scientists throughout the world. As the Hubble Space Telescope orbits its way around the earth once every 95 minutes, it continues to gather more knowledge about not only our galaxy but the ones beyond as well.
