Emotional Maturity - Without it Who Are You Going to Lead?
As leaders we are not going to succeed at influencing others if we do not project credibility. People are just not going to be inspired by someone who they do not find trustworthy, reliable, and authoritative. In short, they won't follow someone who they don’t believe has what it takes to succeed. One unfortunate way of destroying credibility is through emotional outbursts. An individual who can’t control herself/himself is not going to motivate anyone else.

How We Relate Maslow's Theory To Induction
Even though newcomers will have anxiety, they will also be feeling enthusiastic and motivated to do a good job. The main goal of induction is to maintain this enthusiasm and motivation for as long as possible. This will result in more effective performance.

Leadership - Being a Leader and Taking Control
There are two schools concerning leadership, with age old arguments, with both sides citing history as their proof.

Understanding the Hypocrisy of Political Values - Nu Leadership Series
Examine the issues of values in a hot political climate.

Stepping Up: The Perils of Promotion
Hooray! Your endless toil and great success have been recognized. You have been promoted and now wear the sash, and carry the burden, of leadership. You now have the opportunity to enjoy the rewarding experiences - and challenges - that come with the leadership. You now need to go beyond the navigation of personalities of co-workers, and move to managing them. While your workspace may not have changed, you need to mentally and emotionally rise above the cube and workstation where you established that amazing track record. Congratulations, you are a leader. Now what?

Many people leave a job because they are disillusioned, let down or misinformed. A good induction will illustrate to new comers that the organization is committed to them and will do everything it can to retain them as long as possible. This results in reduction of staff turnover and recruitment costs. However, it is vital to set objectives so that the results can be benchmarked.

Who Should Be Involved In The Induction Process
A common mistake in induction schemes is to leave it all to one person to organise. This puts a lot of pressure on that individual and may reduce the effectiveness of the programme. It is advisable to involve as many people as you can in the process, by splitting the responsibility and making it more interesting.
